The Certified Healthcare Assistant training at S’s C&D College is an extensive diploma program that runs for five (5) to six (6) months. Training includes classroom activities in a conducive environment, hands-on learning with state of the art equipment, and clinical and long-term care home posting experience.
A healthcare assistant, also known as an HCA, plays a vital role in caring for people. They can make a real difference in someone’s quality of life. An HCA works to support physicians, nurses, and other health practitioners. HCAs generally work in the implementation of established care plans and practices.
Main Duties of A Healthcare Assistant
- Assisting patients with personal and therapeutic care needs.
- Assisting with patient ambulation, positioning, turning, and lifting.
- Assisting patients and residents with activities of daily living.
- Providing massages and other non-pharmacological pain relief measures, such as during pregnancy and labour.
- Providing care, support, and treatment to patients and residents of medical, rehabilitative, and residential care facilities following established treatment plans by health professionals.
- Maintaining residents’ hygiene standards.
- Observing patients’ condition, responses, and behaviour, and reporting changes to relevant health professionals (NHS.UK)

Healthcare Assistant Program Duration
24 weeks of Incorporating theory and hands-on training in a high-fidelity simulation lab and demonstration ward, including 4 weeks of clinical placement.

Possess a minimum of Five (5) Credits including English language in not more than two sittings in a senior secondary school leaving certificate examination (SSCE – O’ Level) e.g. — waec, neco nabteb.

Training Sessions
Our Healthcare Assistant student can choose to attend their classes and trainings either during the weekdays, weekends or via our virtual learning space (Online). Weekday students can choose to either come in for classes during the morning or evening sessions daily.

Fees and Funding for Healthcare Assistant Training
Acceptance Fee: Candidates who are successfully admitted into the Healthcare Assistant program are expected to accept the admission by paying a non refundable Acceptance fee of Twenty Five Thousand Naira (# 25,000). The candidates are welcome to begin classes and trainings immediately after accepting the admission, and the tuition fee can be payed subsequently within the program’s duration.
Tuition Fee: Our tuition fee which was previously Two Hundred and Eighty Five thousand Naira is now Three Hundred Thousand Naira (# 300,000) only, which can be accepted in parts or installment. However, students registered to take their studies fully Online are to pay Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only (# 250,000). Students are welcome to discuss a payment plan with our Fees Office.
Examination / Graduation Fee: A fee of Twenty Five Thousand Naira (# 25,000) is charged as Examination and graduation fee, which is intended to cover the logistics cost involved in the production of Examination Materials, securing an External Examiner, and the production on the Diploma Certificate and Academic Transcript.
